Our Freedom of Expression is being threatened. This is as basic as our Freedom of Speech and we must protect it at all costs. Right now, the battle is in Oklahoma, but sooner or later it may be everywhere. Its not just about the clothes we wear, its about our safety as well as all of the other things this could be conceivably be expanded to include one day. If we want to continue to be able to freely express ourselves as we are able to do so now, then we must strongly oppose any efforts that would erode our rights. In my opinion, this law was not proposed as a deterrent to crime as they suggested, it is clearly targeting a certain demographic and more specifically, it would affect those who are protesting against police brutality (many of whom fall in that targeted demographic). Many people wear hoodies but masks are not typically worn that often in cities unless its by someone working outside to keep warm, except in the case of protesting. This is for a variety of reasons, but for some it is to maintain their anonymity from the police and others who are opposed to our efforts. We have the right to protect ourselves and they do not have the right to try to interfere with this.
