Our Hot Tub died. I purchased it about 15 years ago from a friend in the pool business near Atlantic City. I installed and wired it myself and it had a long uneventful life while being used very hard. With my various orthopedic problems the Hot Tub has been a lifesaver after a long day. Barbara credits the hot tub with keeping me walking; however some days what I do might not really resemble walking. First question is repair the Hot Tub or replace. With my mechanical background I traced the breakdown to a transformer in the electric control pack known as a “Spa Pack”. The first stop was the pool business that I use for chemicals, filters and the parts I needed when I rebuilt the pump a few years back. The first question was, did you buy it from us? My answer was no, the next comment is we won’t even attempt to help you obtain a part. What I would learn about the “Spa electronics package” is that most brands use the same Spa Pack that my tub used. The second pool store was a little more helpful they would order the part, however they would not sell it to me unless they installed it. The price of the part was $1000.00 I did not ask the cost of the installation because this was a simple plug in part that only took me 10 min to remove. Stop 3 was the internet. I could buy the part for $400.00 or I could replace all the 15 year old guts for around $650.00 More to follow.
