Our LEAP Youths launching their own business 19 year old Milly is one of the hardworking and business oriented youth, she carries out subsistence farming for a living. As part of apprenticeship, Milly is acquiring skills in hair dressing from a salon in her community. On joining the Leadership Entrepreneurship and Apprenticeship program (LEAP), through the different sessions for example discovering the top 10 traits for business success and skills trainings, Milly started jewelry making business. In her own words she says “I give thanks to this program because it has helped me learn on how to start up small businesses and the skills I use to make these jewelries’. Milly has mastered the skill of making unique jewelry. With her goal of setting up a saloon business where she will also sell jewelry, Milly is currently undertaking her apprenticeship from a saloon to acquire hair dressing skills to enable her start her saloon. She has also got a market for her products at the saloon. She is amazed at the immense opportunities that open up if somebody is accorded the right support. Milly now believes that as a girl LEAP has set her to become a role model to girls in her local community.
