Our LEAP Youths launching their own business John Kafeero a 25 year old in Mpoma, Nama sub-county, married with two children. As a primary three dropout; Kafeero realized that he missed several opportunities in life because of the inherent weakness of failure to complete school. With a family and no source of income, John always looked desperate, his negative attitude towards starting small got him suffer for lack of an income to sustain him and his family. John says he owned a piece of land which he received as a gift from his relative but he later lost it in an exchange for a motor cycle. With this decision he had lost his only valuable asset in life and got so devastated. During this time his friends talked to him joining the MCE Uganda Leadership Entrepreneurship and Apprenticeship program which he joined. To him he thought this was a joke however John says joining the program led to his triumph up to this stage. As a result of the skills acquired through LEAP, John is now a successful motorcycle rider from 0 savings he now saves atleast $3 perday. He has also been able to set up a food stuff stall for his wife and are now able to pay school fees for their daughter. In addition John has piggery project and also owns two cows. He aims to buy another piece of land to replace the one he lost and also setup a permanent house for his family. From his savings he was able to repair an old motorcycle from his father which he also uses to earn an extra income. From a program which he thought was a joke, John is now one of the strongest advocates for LEAP; He says LEAP has enabled him find his life again through empowering him to find practical solutions to life challenges.
