Our Lady of Mount Carmel Societys eight-day feast gets under way in Rosebank. On Friday evening, Steve Gross sat at his fish pond booth drawing on his pipe and waiting for customers, while the air was filled with the scent of grilled hamburgers and the sound of rock n roll from DJ Vin D. Once again, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Societys anniversary feast breathed life into the quiet little Rosebank neighborhood between Virginia Avenue and Amity Street. Now in its 111th year, the festival is designed to honor the Blessed Mother as well as the Italian culture and traditions that built St. Josephs R.C. Church, the events co-sponsor along with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society. On Friday night, it had something for everyone: food, live music, comedy and games.
