The Clarion Area School District is located in the center of Clarion County in scenic Northwestern Pennsylvania. Composed of Clarion Borough, Monroe Township, Paint Township, and Highland Township, the school district encompasses 71 square miles. Clarion Area is noted for its emphasis on academic excellence, its outstanding fine arts program, small class sizes, high attendance and participation rates, modern facilities, and a safe environment. The Elementary School is situated on 19 acres of land. The grounds include three playground areas and an environmental science nature trail. In addition to strong basic skills instruction, the elementary curriculum features a full array of services and programs including: full-day kindergarten, gifted and talented enrichment, special needs instruction, standard and wireless/mobile computer labs, fiber optics networking, instructional support, guidance, early intervention, instrumental and choral music, art, physical education, and a well-stocked library. Intramural sports, academic competitions, and an active PTO are additional features of the Elementary School program. Clarion Area Elementary School is fully accredited by the Middle Atlantic States Association of Schools and Colleges. Academic excellence is the hallmark of the High School curriculum. Regardless of a student’s academic strengths or educational goals, Clarion High’s extensive course offerings are designed to meet his or her individual needs. A challenging curriculum allows college-intending students to prepare for the demands of the most competitive universities. In addition, a highly motivated student can earn an honors diploma by following a rigorous program of studies which includes honors and advanced placement courses.
