Our November Workshop was another success! Ikebana San Antonio experienced its first ever demonstration and workshop of the Ikenobo School. Alisan Clarke studied ikebana while in Japan where she earned her certification in the Ikenobo School. Now living in North Austin, she travelled to San Antonio to present an “ Introduction to Japanese Flower Arranging with the Old School of Ikenobo”. She spoke on the history, principles and techniques of the Ikenobo School of Ikebana while creating six different arrangements. She readily answered questions during the demonstration and offered many insightful comments about the material and containers that she was using and how best to display them. During the workshop period, she spoke with and offered suggestions to each member as they created an arrangement from the materials and container they had brought. All Ikebana San Antonio members and guests were impressed with Alisan Clarke’s creativity and knowledge and look forward to her return to San Antonio.
