Our OCSO Marine Unit helped keep boaters away last week as staffers from various organizations worked to safely capture a mother dolphin and her calf in the Destin area. The baby dolphin had what appeared to be line from a fishing net wrapped around its tail, causing injury. The rescuers had to put the young dolphin on a platform near Crab Island to carefully remove the line and prevent further damage. The mission was a success and the calf is expected to be okay. Great job by all involved!
