Our Pasifikana Soundz 2014 concert is on Fri and Sat at the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Centre here in Noumea. Weve had some fun and intense rehearsals learning new material as we make up a 6 group collaboration - with featured spots for each group. We are all learning new songs, riffs, rhythms, feels, and lyrics in 7 different languages - Tahitian, Cook Islands, Tokelauan, Samoan, Wallisian, English and French! Weve combined traditional Kanaky bamboo, pate, electric guitar, bass, acoustic guitar, ukulele and voice. The diversity of the music gives us the opportunity to speak as one voice calling on our shared passion of music and culture from our varied Pasifika origins - regardless of where we all reside. From the South Island of Aotearoa to the Northern regions of New Caledonia we come together in this amazing celebration of PASIFIKANA SOUNDZ. Thanks to our family ASSOCIATION SIAPO ( Nouvelle Calédonie) - esp our sister Marie Tamole and Rose, PAKAHUA, XOOBWEN FWADA, tyssia, Kalagala, KOILE, King Kapisi, Bill Urale, Tere Urale, Ole Maiava, Grace Taylor, Daren Kamali, The Mavaega Sisters, ATC Participate and our Mumu family. We are truly honoured to have been part of this project.
