Our Pastor John Pfeifer spoke the first part of a progressive - TopicsExpress

Our Pastor John Pfeifer spoke the first part of a progressive message The Lord gave him. It was so timely and significant in many lives.... Had to share. There are stages we go through in our Spiritual walk. Preparation- when we are far enough in our walk that we can sit back and receive comfort in God. At times it feels like everything is caving in. Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. (Psalms 3:1 NKJV) But theres times when we have to have a positive confession. The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. (Psalms 9:9 NKJV) For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. (Psalms 27:5 NKJV) We must build on a solid foundation. A foundation of rock. Truth...the word do God. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:34 NKJV) Jesus tells us God will care for us. We have to learn to have comfort in God. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (II Corinthians 1:2 NKJV) Paul addresses the people of Corinth. He speaks of Gods mercies and grace. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. (II Corinthians 1:5 NKJV) Theres nothing you go thru that Jesus didnt feel. Atonement- Jesus came as the second Adam. You can receive comfort if you know theres a reason for it. (When John was young his dad had him splitting wood. Although it was tiring, as the pile of wood was almost done, he could look forward to the warmth of the fire in the morning) Its about loving God and loving others. When its all about you, your never satisfied. Rockefeller, when asked how much money is enough, he replied; just a little more. The early church had more affliction. People were hostile that Jesus could be the son of God. How can we receive this comfort...endure...hang in there. Resist the devil and he will flee. Satan is out to defeat us. He is subtle. We have to build up our spiritual muscles. We have to know how to receive comfort. We have to trust God. This endurance is not our deal. It comes from God. The comfort comes from God. He sent the Holy Spirit and Hes the Comforter. God is providing it and expects us to use it. Comforter- in Latin means, brave, courage, enable, surround. Its up to us to receive. He will never give you something you cant stand. If He gives you vision, He will help you see it thru. The atonement plays a big part of who we are. Sometimes we dont receive comfort because of worrying. God spoke and the world was created. Your not good enough, cant work hard enough....you just receive it from God and let it happen. ----John Pfeifer
