Our Philosophy At Toys & Tots Preschool we believe all children are successful, competent and capable learners. Our centre is a happy place for children to come and have fun in an inviting environment. We value children’s input in our program and assist them to build their self-confidence & develop lasting relationships. We value the diversity that each child and their families bring to the centre and provide an inclusive environment. Our program & daily practices are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework & the National Quality Standards. In line with this we aim to: • Provide secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships • Have genuine partnerships with families, where families and educators value each other’s knowledge of the child. • Hold high expectations for children’s achievement and learning. • Respecting diversity by honouring the histories, cultures, languages, traditions, child rearing practices and lifestyle choices of families. • Promoting a greater understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being. • Educators continually seeking ways to build their professional knowledge & reflecting on practice. • Providing Holistic approaches, paying close attention to each child’s physical, personal, social, emotional, spiritual wellbeing and cognitive aspects of learning. • Educators being responsive to children’s strengths, abilities and interests. • Recognising children learn through their play. • Providing Intentional Teaching moments that are deliberate, purposeful and thoughtful. • Providing supportive learning environments that are welcoming and reflect the lives and identities of the children and families that use our centre. As well as being responsive to the interests and abilities of each child. • Providing continuity of learning between home and the centre. • Assessing children’s learning in an ongoing cycle that includes planning, documenting and evaluating each child’s individual learning based on the five learning outcome areas set out by the Early Years Learning Framework. 1.
