Our Quest for Baby Beevers #2 ***September 12, 2004*** Hello there! We just had a great Sunday. The weather was great and we went to the zoo. It was nice and Garon had a great time. Natasha had not bee there either, so it was a real treat for all of us. We found the internet café today. That is where we are right now. The re are about 20 kids in here all wearing headphones and playing games--very interesting! We finally found Garon some strawberry powder for his milk. Natasha saved the day--she found it yesterday!!! We are getting real good at maneuvering the grocery store and finding what we need. We make daily trips there for one thing or another. We just look at the pictures and that is usually good enough. Everything here is packaged in plastics bags even the milk. They dont have jugs of anything except water. The weather has been really good the last 2 days- we just hope it continues. We only have about 2 pair of pants each. So we just keep switching every day. We will be moving to a new region tomorrow night--that is similar to changing towns--we are going to Donetsk. We leave on the train tomorrow nite around 7 and we will arrive in region around 7 am. We dont know anymore than that right now. Here are a few more of our observations about Ukraine: For those coming to Ukraine to adopt-bring your own towels. I just threw mine in on a whim and I am sure glad I did! The bath towels they had for us looked like hand towels and there were only 2 of them! Not quite enough for 4 people and drying your body with a hand towel--not easy!!! In our apt the couch actually looks like a booth seat (posted pic of it a few days ago), it is really hard- not padded at all--needless to say, we dont lounge there very often! The broom in the apt looks like something we would decorate with and put on the wall, and the brooms that the ladies use to sweep the streets look like a broom that we put out on Halloween--a witches broom-!(posted that pic yesterday). We do have satellite tv but we cant understand a word of it and it is not real reliable at that. I think we have found one English speaking station to get the latest news, but thats about it. Thank goodness we brought a laptop and a portable dvd player to watch movies. I am also glad we brought more than one set of converters. We already blew one up--first day--but we still have 2! We are having a great time and we hope that our donation bag catches up with us in region. We keep calling British Airways but still nothing showing up. Thanks for all your comments and we will update when we can in the new region!! Love, t,d,and G and Grandma
