Our Thunder Basketball teams picked up a pair of conference wins at home on Friday evening. The womens team defeated the Hibbing Community College Cardinals 72-63. The Cardinals led most of the game until Rylee Barlau knocked down a jump shot with three minutes remaining in the game to put the Thunder ahead. Leading the Thunder scoring was Claudia Turner with 31 points including 12 of 13 free throws, with 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Shaelyn Halverson scored 20 points, Haley Psyck pulled down 10 rebounds, and Barlau finished 3 for 3 on the night with 7 points off the bench. The mens team defeated the Cardinals 90-78. The Thunder were led in scoring by Danny Alston with 21 points, Erik Adams with 17, and Deaundre Bell scored 19 points while shooting 8 for 9 from the field and grabbing 9 rebounds. The Thunder are back in action at home on Saturday afternoon, hosting Rainy River at 1:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m.
