Our Victorian Western Metro MP, the fantastic Colleen Hartland, has been campaigning hard so that occupational illnesses for firies is better taken care of. See, firies put their immediate lives at risk when they respond to fire threats. But often they put their lives and health at long-term risk from a cocktail of poisonous fumes that are in lots of fires — chemicals emitted from things like burning plastics and building materials, for example. As a person with a number of family members who are volunteer firefighters, this issue really matters to me.
