Our ancestors can now rest in peace... Fantastic news today that the Nature Conservancy of Canada will partner with the provincial government and First Nations to purchase Grace Islet, a culturally and ecologically significant site off Saltspring Island. The site, which contains at least 16 ancient First Nations burial cairns, had been threatened by a private development until construction was halted last month. This was an important and hard fought victory by local First Nations. My personal thanks to Linda and all the staff at the Nature Conservancy for their part in this amazing achievement!
