Our client, an industry recognised and global retailer, has an exciting opportunity for a professional and articulate Ethical Assistant. The main focus of this role is to provide comprehensive and professional support to the CR Manager with implementation and monitoring of the Social Monitoring Programme (SMP), which covers ethical standards in our supply chains. Duties of the CR Assistant for the social monitoring programme (SMP) will therefore include: •Ensuring the SMP process is being followed and all necessary documentation checked. •Keeping up to date records of suppliers, their production sites and current status. •Processing ethical information at each stage of the buying process. •Preparing reports and updates for the CR Manager and buying teams. •Corresponding with suppliers, buying assistants and international office as appropriate. •Supporting the CR Manager with training (of buying teams and suppliers). •Drafting letters and other documentation. Other duties include: •Support the delivery of accurate CR reporting against National and International Action Plans in a timely manner. •Update CR section of website and ensure accuracy of CR information. •Ensure all relevant CR policies and guidance documents are uploaded to Procedures Manual. •Assist the CR Manager in preparation of reports, presentations and CR materials. •Perform CR product checks where necessary. •Carry out research and media monitoring for CR trends and competitor activity. •Manage the efficient and accurate flow of correspondence and information, both incoming and outgoing, with external and internal parties ensuring an ongoing understanding of current issues and proposing/taking action where appropriate. •Communicate with suppliers, as directed by the CR Manager. •Support the CR Manager in building and managing relationships with independent third parties. •Pro-actively develop own knowledge and understanding of CR topics and industry trends. •Ensure that a polite and professional manner is maintained in all internal and external communications. The ideal candidate will have experience of ethical compliance, ideally in a retail environment and be proactive and able to demonstrate initiative by suggesting ways of improving current ways of working.
