Our computers operate on binary logic, all the way down to the bottom of the physical elements of the circuits. A capacitor is read as either charged or discharged (OK, there is a little fudging here, but the threshold is either passed or not, which is good enough for gummint work), which represents on or off, 1 or 0, true or false. In yesterdays gospel, Jesus reveals that the spiritual life is also binary: we are either for God or for mammon, but not both. Some differences make no difference; others make all the difference in the world. There is no room in Heaven for self-centered people. We are either for love or against it; there is no in-between. Although this is a standard, it is not a test. God is in the heart of our hearts at all times, and He never ceases to call and empower us to choose love.
