Our condition is like that of a drunk person who is lying on the streets drunk and when someone asks him, why don’t you go to your house, he replies that I am at my house. The drunken person is not faking his response; he really thinks that he is at his house. He starts hitting the person who tries to lead him to his house. Similarly, we do not realize our fallen state and not recognizing the Saints who try to lead us to our true home, we instead love the world with the false hope of finding true happiness here. The pleasures of the world are fleeting and mixed with misery and not true happiness. True happiness is ever-lasting, ever-increasing and unlimited. It is divine.
