Our conversion from Comcast to Frontier FIOS is done. It went - TopicsExpress

Our conversion from Comcast to Frontier FIOS is done. It went pretty smoothly, although we initially had a problem with one of the set-top boxes seeing the internet. We determined this was caused by that STB and the router being on separate branches off the eight-way amplified splitter that Comcast had installed years ago. We have many fewer TVs now, so the Frontier repairman replaced the 8-way with a 3-way, and now everything is working fine. The only remaining problem is that I havent yet succeeded in getting the Frontier routers firewall configured to pass inbound RDP traffic to my PC and so am having to use GoToMyPC instead, but Ill get that figured out soon enough. The other thing Im missing is that Frontiers EPG doesnt appear to support the Reminder function that Comcast does; maybe I just havent found it yet. But on the positive side, the Frontier STB UI is much richer than Comcast, were seeing way less pixilation (digital video interference), and its $70 less per month! Oh, and the internet performance is consistently very good on the fiber.
