Our cycle trip has come to an end and we have just booked into St Christophers Inn in Paris where we will be for the next four nights. We have had a wonderful trip and seen some beautiful sights. All the little french villages and hamlets that we cycled through are charming with flowers everywhere. They have a competion from what I can gather and it appears similar to our Tidy Town competition in Oz but this one is judged on their flower presentation and they earn anything up to three stars which is displayed on a sign as you enter the village, so as you enter the village you usually see the bridges with lovely flower arrangements all along and the houses with their colourful hanging baskets. On our last night in Reims several of us went to the cathedral to see The Dream of Colours by Skertzo. It started at 11pm and took us about 45mins to walk there and I can not begin to explain what it was like, it was just magical and quite unbeleivable. My photos were no good but Alan took a video which turned out very well but we have been told there is a very good video on U Tube. Another villages we tayed the night at was called Chateaux-Thierry which is famous for fables and we saw The Raven and the Fox beautifully depected. After all the very hot weather we have had, over 30 degrees most days the quides had to structure our rides to take this high temperature into consideration, we are used to riding in some heat but we are only on the road for the morning and ofcause on some days it was all day and we were exhausted when we got back to the barge. Friday morning we woke to thunder and lighting and pouring rain but that eased and cycling was on again. Today was the same when we got off the barge lighting and thunder and pouring but it lasted till about 9.30 and now it is so hot again. Several off us had a couple of days on the barge as we are quite exhausted and needed to refuel.!!!!!!!!!!! In saying that we all agreed we had a great time, the staff was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble, little things like an icy cold drink on our return from a hot heavy ride was so appreciated.
