Our deferred planning application (from last month) is to be heard on Wednesday in Kendal, lets hope that those who make the decisions treat us the same as they did Wetherspoons, Merienda, the Chalet, pub beer garden etc and not pay heed to silly comments like Late opening may just encourage undesirables to frequent the cafe... as one of the handful of objectors puts it. Nor should they pay any attention to ...conflict of trade. I perceive that the cafe makes a very useful contribution to day time catering with the pub largely catering to a successful evening trade. Conflict will not help the Pheasant and I do value our local pub. Were just a small family owned cafe, not a brewery or a pub chain, and its clear from the objections that the issue they have is with our customers who arrive on motorcycles, its mentioned in almost every letter. If its ok for others to open in the evenings, and for some close to us to take advantage of our parking without any complaints from our neighbours, then why shouldnt it be the same for us? Lets hope common sense prevails.
