Our experience of Iselle will most likely be fairly mild. I have been observing some unusual behavior of the birds today nonetheless, big flock of nene flying north in a V formation, VERY noisy. Dozens of small birds (forgive my lack of bird knowledge, that means I couldnt identify them) that had hunkered down in the very tall weeds in our pastures, were unfortunately disturbed by my dog. The horses were also on edge, not my usual chilled herd. They felt insecure, hovering close to me, when I got to the ranch today and also showing off some frantic gallops. I decided to feed them more than their usual ration for the morning after a slightly longer turn out to pasture and added some extra magnesium into their portions, to help them relax. I definitely recommend feeding horses a little extra during times of stress due severe weather, which can be quite unsettling to them too. The herd was settled down immensely once they happily dug into their meals. We all know about the potential for comfort through food, right?!!
