Our farming family will be making a submission, thanking Auckland Council for becoming a full member of the Northland/ Auckland Inter Council Working Party on GMO Risk Evaluation & Management Options and helping to pay for the collaborative commissioning of independent GE reports and a legal opinion, exposing the serious deficiencies in the Hazardous Substances & New Organisms Act..and showing why councils must act on a local level to protect their communities and the environment from outdoor use of GMOs. The GE provisions in the Auckland Council proposed Unitary Plan are excellent and we shall support them with a submission and ask to be heard, so that we can provide further details as to why existing non GM primary producers dont want GE crops/ experiments on our patch.
