Our fear of criticism is often internalized such that the inner critic speaks louder than our voice of reason. The great work were capable of doing gets beat back silent voices shouting that were not good enough, experienced enough, or smart enough. Part of anyones Quiet Power Strategy must be a reverse internalization that the way you see the world, the connections you make, the actions you choose, the creative impulse you follow is a good enough reason to put yourself out into the world and play the biggest game you choose to play. I’ve found that the fundamental shift for women happens when we internalize the fact that all substantive work brings both praise and criticism. Many women carry the unconscious belief that good work will be met mostly — if not exclusively — with praise. -- Tara Mohr in the The New York Times
