Our final shipment of baby wipe packaging and Danone / Actimel pots went off yesterday. We are always saddened to hear of the end of any recycling scheme as these items will now go back to their former destination: landfill. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Terra Cycle, Danone and Johnsons who ran this particular scheme and hope that another company will step forward and re-instate the program. Its been a difficult year for recycling as our rag man who takes all the clothes we dont sell and many other items has stopped taking, curtains, quilts, toys, CDs, DVDs and cushions. Many of these things are recycled and made into new products but demand for the recycled product is not sufficient to make it a sustainable business model. So whats the answer? We would always encourage you to own things for as long as you can, buy recycled products, buy 2nd hand wherever possible and buy quality & not quantity. Hope you are all keeping warm out there and not stressing too much over Christmas :-))
