Our first afternoon, we visited the Goreme Open Air Museum which is a vast array of 11th. 12th & 13th century churches carved out of the rocks! Many of the original frescoes are intact. We were mesmerized by the natural beauty and amazed that these ancient people were able to construct such intricate interiors out of the rock! We found a very nice guide who ended up staying with us all day through our adventures!
