Our first day of VBS was fantastic! For those who decided not to sleep in, we started out with a scrumptious breakfast of coco bread (my new favorite food) at Hammonds bakery. The rest of the time before VBS pick-up at 4:00 was spent preparing for the classes and driving around town to let our regulars know of schedule changes. Oh, and of course celebrating Tawaynes birthday! We took 10-year-old Tawayne, whose family has attended the church at Cave for many years, out for lunch at the In-Thing Restaurant and finished with ice cream at the Devon House. He seemed to have a great time. When 4:00 rolled around, Papa Tant and Burt drove around to the different neighborhoods where kids pile in the vans to go to bible classes. Once we arrived at the building, we sang a few songs, and then we split off into our classes to learn some lessons about the armor of God, which is our theme for the week. Afterward, we were uplifted by an excellent sermon on the purpose of the gospel by Mr. George. Overall, it was a long day that came with its challenges, but it all worked out for the glory of God and the spreading of his word among the souls here in Jamaica.
