Our first day of post-sanctions shopping in Saigon! In solidarity with our Russian narode, we refuse to buy anything edible made in the EU/US/Australia or Japan. We found tolerable Vietnamese gruyere and Mozarella - though they were sold out of the local Camembert (which is really quite good - when you can find it). There is excellent Chilean and Argentine wine - far cheaper than the French for the equivalent quality, and I can still buy Swiss Muesli. The local coffee is very decent; I cannot find Colombian or Brazilian and must forgo the Illy. I will miss my Australian apples, though, and am looking for a substitute for Australian beef for Anna. What we are going to do when we run out of olive oil I havent figured out yet...
