Our first debate has been a really big hit. We had Sai and his bro Karthik starting off the debate early with whether the capitalist economy wud suit. They talked about how the industrial workers suffer with minimum wages, low working conditions and environmental pollution. Everyone agreed with that. Karthik and Sai launched an attack on the current Indian mixed economy. They said that it was not suitable for India because the Indian govt was corrupt and the schemes it launched were barely implemented and they also said that since the govt wanted more investments for its ambitions, it overlooked the safety measures of them and because of it, really big accidents like the bhopal gas tragedy occured. When asked about Japan, which also followed mixed economy, he said that the Japanese govt was not corrupt and enforced the rule of law. Then Sai backed the communist economy saying that since india was a poor country, there was no choice but to make everyone get the same salary in order to eradicate poverty. He also said that since the communist govt doesnt guarantee some basic rights like right to freedom of speech, the govt wud urge the people to work hard for developing india without oppossing its orders. Swadesh countered by saying that the result of communism was the partition of Germany and the Russian Revolution and he said that if India became a marxist country or a maoist country, there wud be division and widespread rebellion against the govt and the maoists. Then we went on to talk about the religious democracy which was a form of communism. Swadesh praised about UAE and Qatar being developed nations but also said that it wud do no good to India as thousands of riots wud occur, demolishing and ghettoising the nation. Finally, all of us arrived to a conclusion that the current mixed economy but with a corruption free and strict Government is essential for India. Our first Rapidhour debate has been successful. Henceforth, more debates shall be observed.
