Our first games of SBH for my sons (9 and 7) and I. We started a SDG campaign. The boys are really excited about tracking and improving their war bands, not to mention coming up with cool names for their characters. Im playing an Orc and goblin list. First game was against my 9 year olds dwarf list. Got a pic of our first kill in SBH, my sons dwarf leader smacking down a goblin. We were playing the burnem out scenario. The dwarfs approached the orcs stash (in the burned out building) from a weak flank. I managed to get most of my troops around the building to try to stop him with a sort of base-to-base scrimmage line. One of his dwarfs with a torch braved breaking away from two goblins and made it into the building to torch the orcs supplies. His victory. Next game was me against my 7 year olds mixed force. He insisted on taking a pony. Ok, so I wrote up some stats on it, Q4, C1, animal, long move. We were playing break-thru, I had to get to the other side of the table. He put his pony up front. Ok, whatever. I did some group activations on my goblins and they ran forward. I was feeling a little bad that I was going to take out this weak little pony that my son was attached to. The pony approached, getting 3 actions thanks to the nearby leader. It ran up, attacked a goblin, and killed it!! I got some poor activation rolls and just managed to get into btb with the pony with another goblin. Pony got two acts, did a power blow and wiped out another goblin! That pony was a goblin killer! A gruesome kill on a goblin from an archer in hth broke most of my army from melee, leaving them to be cut down as they tried to run. My force was in ruins. I managed to get a single goblin past his lines, but he would have been run down by the long move pony if he hadnt flubbed his activation in the last turn. My band if a massive number of goblins, which I had thought would be overpowered, turned out to be not so much, even when outnumbering the boys troops in melee. Anyway, victory for the 7 year old! We had a ton of fun and the boys are asking when we can continue our campaign, and the older one wants to paint up the rest of his minis. So far SBH is a huge success!
