Our first pro shoot out event! An incredible night of squash brought a large crowd to the balcony of Redwood Squash Club. We had 8 players involved, the top seeds including Mike Harris (World Num 125), Tom Ford (World Num 128) and ovcourse Mohammed El Shorbagy, the current world number 6 was the top favourite to take the money! The players were split into two groups: Mohammed El Shorbagy Dan West Roshan Bharos Antonio De La Torre Tom Ford Mike Harris Sam Ellis Richard King In the first group Shorbagy emerged the clear victor, but not without having a tough game with local Redwood legend Dan West. West led the game 8-2, helped along by a roar of support from the crowd, but Shorbagy used all his experience to climb back and win 15-11. In the second group, Ford and Harris won both their first games, setting up an exciting battle to see who would face Shorbagy in the final. Having only 3 places between them in world rankings, this was sure to be a close game. But Ford attacked the front corners with great skill to take the game 15-13. Final - Shorbagy vs Ford - Some very exciting rallies between these two had the crowd on the edge of their seats till the end. Shorbagy took control and maintained a small lead until 14-10, where Ford dug in and squeezed some tight drop shots to get back to 14-13. However it was Shorbagy who closed out the game 15-13 to win the first pro shoot out. A great evening of squash with a lot of support from club members and guests. We are looking forward to the next one already!
