There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others. Mandy Hale (and Beckie, YOU do ) Beckie Schilling Jul 9th, 5:25am SHE is the change contest. I would like to nominate my sister Angie Schilling. She the past 5 years at a small town private school as a their Middle School Science teacher. When she started there, the kids had no idea that science was much more than pictures in a text book. She was able to build up an amazing program through the years on a very small budget while paying for a lot of it out of her own pocket. The kids became excited to learn and work projects and experiments each year, and loved the ability to question and learn about the world around them. They were extremely sad to see her take a fourth grade teaching position somewhere else, but I know she will be just as amazing with an entirely new group of kids. She has also started community service projects with her students by putting together care packages for military members who may not be able to make it home for the holidays. As an active duty Marine myself, everything received during the difficult times to be away from your family during the year, every little bit of home helps. More recently, she has been asked to aid in the socialization of pet rabbits at a local shelter. I know it may sound a bit strange, but unfortunately they are mistreated just like dogs or cats and need a patient person to show them there are good people in the world that will love them. The shelter loved what she has done to provide a great environment for the two rabbits she has adopted that they have asked if she would be willing to take the time to foster more in hopes to get them more comfortable with people. Thank you! for taking the time to read and for considering my sister for your SHE is the change contest.
