Our focus in Advent is the Spiritual Journey of Mary. The church - TopicsExpress

Our focus in Advent is the Spiritual Journey of Mary. The church lectionary tends to focus as much on the second coming as the first coming. We believe there is much to be learned from the written and unwritten record of the life and relationships of Mary before the birth of our Savior. We have chosen to use four focus points identified with the themes Willing, Watching, Waiting, and Wondering. These disciplines help us suspend belief as it were, and open our hearts and minds to the joy to come as though it were a surprise. The preparation undercurrent of Advent intertwines with these themes to intensify our experience. In place of the standard acclamation during the consecration we use this version: Therefore, according to his command, Heavenly Creator: We wonder as we hear Angels speak to us; We watch as we see Gods will for our lives unfold; We wait with Mary as we sense His life within us, and; We now willingly submit to Gods guidance and love. And, yes, we do use blue for the color at: St. Augustines Episcopal Church, 2920 26th Avenue South,St. Petersburg, Florida. 33712 (Write if you would like to have/see some of our bulletins. United with us by incarnation through Mary and the Holy Spirit, He shows us the way of Freedom and Life. Walking among us, he touches us with healing and transforming power and shows us Your glory. Giving Himself freely as a sacrifice for our sins, he triumphs over evil and becomes our salvation
