Our forecasters are extending the Front Range Action Day for Particulates until at least 4 p.m. Friday, June 14. The Wildfire Smoke Health Advisories for all three major fires already were extended until at least 9 a.m. tomorrow morning. The Action Day covers an area from El Paso County north and includes both Colorado Springs and the Denver-metropolitan area. Fine particulate matter concentrations are expected to be in the moderate-to-unhealthy-for-sensitive-groups range on Thursday and Friday in areas directly impacted by heavy wildfire smoke. The heaviest smoke impact is expected to occur in the northern portions of Colorado Springs overnight to the early morning hours. Later Friday morning, the heaviest smoke impact is expected north of the Black Forest Fire and may reach the Denver-metro area. Ozone concentrations are expected to remain in the good-to-moderate range Thursday and Friday.
