Our former student Mulay Smara and some of his friends, mostly UWC alumni, have initiated a project to help improve the lives of his people displaced from their own land in Western Sahara (also known as Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic). They had the honor to be granted the Davis Project for Peace for summer 2014 and “will be spending weeks in the middle of the Sahara desert : South West Algeria, helping the Saharawi refugees building Green Houses and a total of 5 gardens, most importantly providing the Saharawi people with a healthy diet.” They are now calling out for donations and support: “Regardless of whether or not you are able to give financially at this time, we still appreciate your support on spreading the word, therefore, we encourage you to share and share.” Do check our their website saharafeed/ And rally page: https://rally.org/GoingOrganicinWS They will greatly appreciate it!
