Our fourth most watched YouTube video in Croatia this year features Mejaši, a band from Varaždin up fifty miles north of Zagreb. Some people call them the tamburaši in tennis shoes because instead of the traditional folk costumes like all the other tamburaši groups wear, they wear jeans and tennis shoes which reflects their music which is their unique blend of the traditional with modern pop rock. It works for these young men too. As you can see, they have no trouble getting the young ladies of the town to chase them up the hill to the castle. The average age of Mejaši is 22 years. With their talent, they could be around awhile.
