Our friend Jodi asks: I have a question and need some serious advice please! I just got my kitten 2 weeks ago...he is now 12 weeks old. At first, he loved me and my husband very much and got both of our attention. But after week 1, my hubby had to go out of town for a week. When he got back, kitten got verrrry jealous of him and wanted to hog all my attention. He didnt act aggressive with him and still let him hold him and play with him, but because I spent so much alone time with him when hubby was gone, he pooped on my husbands paperwork that was on the floor while we were out for the day...not once, but TWICE!! In the same spot! My husband, who doesnt really care for cats anyway, and just got the cat for me, was soooo upset and said thats strike 2 for him and he will have to go if he does it again. :( I read some articles that said this is called middening and its an extreme form of marking territory. He has no problems with using his litterbox and its extremely clean, so this is not the problem. I know he gets lonely when we leave, but how can I help him stop this?? Now again, my husband has had to leave for a week today...I want to try to help him break this behavior now so that when hubby comes back, he doesnt feel threatened and act out again. I dont want to lose my kitty...but I have to be fair to my husband...and he said he really likes the cat, but this is unacceptable. I told him we have to be patient with him cuz hes a baby and hes in a learning stage, but this is a behavioral problem I think...I just dont know how to fix it. Please help.
