Our friend, Lois Loomer passed away last Monday~ she may rest in peace~ Lois Fay Loomer, age 58, a lifelong Park Rapids, MN area resident, received permanent healing from her suffering as the Lord brought her to her heavenly home on Monday, September 30, 2013, while a resident at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids. Lois was born a twin to sister, Louise, on January 14, 1955 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids to Carrol and Donna (Overocker) Loomer. Lois was born deaf and subsequently attended the MN School for the Deaf in Faribault, MN from where she graduated in 1974. She went on to attend the St. Paul Technical College. In 1979, she ventured west and settled in Denver, CO where she attended community college and was employed with the U.S Postal Service. In 1982, she returned to the Park Rapids area and gained employment at the Heritage Living Center working as a CNA. Later she worked for the Haas Printing Company and cleaned houses and cabins. Most recently, Lois was employed by the Park Rapids Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time, Lois enjoyed raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. She enjoyed working with her hands with knitting, quilting, sewing, drawing and scrapbooking. She was a devoted daughter and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. Lois had a profound love for animals and especially enjoyed her four legged companions: her dog, Herman and cat, Skip. Lois will be lovingly remembered by her parents: Carrol and Donna Loomer of Park Rapids; her four siblings: Norma Loomer, Louise Loomer, Joyce Loomer, and Carl Loomer all of Park Rapids; as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; two aunts: Dorothy Springer and Bernice Dunn and two cousins: Roger Eischens and Steve Springer. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Rev. Bob Kaumans officiating. The active casket bearers will be: Leann Nelson, Scott Larson, Richard Kopachek, Sheree Keprios, James Sackett and Loretta Scribner. The honorary casket bearers will be: Anthony Eischens, Lillian Eischens, Scott Loomer, Alane Roundtree, Laura Hauser, Jerry Springer, Ted Springer, Terry Springer, Linda Kilvington, Bradley Dunn and Anton Schlief. Interment will be made in the Arago-Clover-Evergreen Cemetery in Arago Township north of Park Rapids. Visitation will begin at noon on Monday at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home.
