Our friends at Actors Summit Theater are now featuring Photograph 51, through February 2nd. The play’s title was an x-ray diffraction picture taken by Rosalind Franklin in 1952 of strands of DNA. Her x-ray photographs and detailed calculations were used by James Watson and Frances Crick, without Franklin’s knowledge, to construct the first model of the double helix structure of DNA for which they won the Nobel Prize. Franklin’s contributions were never acknowledged by Watson or by Crick. More information is available at their website.
