Our friends in Bolivia not only provide a #water model for others - TopicsExpress

Our friends in Bolivia not only provide a #water model for others to examine and adopt but need our help in achieving their goal of complete water autonomy. The Fundación Abril has been working with the San Pedro Magisterio Water Cooperative to provide water and sanitation services in a suburban neighborhood of Cochabamba, to build the first communitarian treatment plant of waste waters in Cochabamba. This has been a collective effort with the goal of allowing this cooperative to manage their water through its entire cycle – returning clean water to the Pachamama (Mother Earth). La Fundación Abril was founded in the year 2000 in Cochabamba, Bolivia, out of the popular protest struggle known as the “Water War,” and supported by the Goldman Environmental Prize awarded to the organization’s founder and director, Oscar Olivera. La Fundación Abril is an independent, non-profit organization that promotes alternative participatory and democratic processes in labor claims and in the management of water as a common good, through initiatives based on organization, management, education, research and grassroots mobilization. Every small donation helps greatly. Many small drops make a river.
