Our good friend and former co-anchor at ABAP Go for Gold Amateur - TopicsExpress

Our good friend and former co-anchor at ABAP Go for Gold Amateur Boxing TV show Danny Romero joined our Creator 9 pm Friday after undergoing surgery at Emilio Aguinaldo Hospital in Cavite. He first suffered a stroke Saturday last week and was rushed to the hospital. Danny was 55. Danny was a hardworking sports commentator and was with us during our coverage of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Before that, as host of DZSR Sports Radio shows, he also covered the Southeast Asian Games and other international competitions. He was also our co-officer in the Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines or SCOOP in the late 90s. A badminton enthusiast and coach, I had a chance to play with Danny during coverage breaks in Cebu and in Imus, Cavite. During our Go for Gold days, we would go as far as Lanao del Norte, GenSan, Compostela Valley, Tagbilaran, Bohol, to help discover aspiring amateur boxers. Farewell, my friend. Youre in a better and more blessed place now and in the caring arms of the Lord! Dannys son Mark says he will inform us on viewing schedule for his Dads remains as soon as he has details.
