Our good news is that Alec returned to school today rocking the wheelchair and seemed in good spirits when I picked him up. All of his teachers so far very understanding and helpful. Still, some fatigue setting in for all of us. Todays 4 1/2 hour round trip to the wound center will be repeated 3 times a week for at least the next 3 weeks. Each time wound is debrided and new packing inserted, and he goes through the roof with the pain. Great staff at the wound center doing everything they can to make it as smooth as possible. Still hard to imagine 3 more weeks.
