Our government is supposed to serve us, not rule us. We are - TopicsExpress

Our government is supposed to serve us, not rule us. We are supposed to be the masters, not the slaves. Our founders knew that and created a government built on the principles of liberty and the consent of the governed. We have come a long way from that founding and have found ourselves far astray from the philosophy that gave us birth. Resolve today to join the fight to get our society back to its birthright, become engaged, become informed, demand your liberty be preserved and protected. One of my favorite founders is George Mason, so on Independence Day I will share some of his words. Everyone knows Eisenhower warned us of the military industrial complex, but did you know George Mason did, too? He said, When the same man, or set of men, holds the sword and the purse, there is an end of liberty. Georges version of the right to keep and bear arms is clear. That the people have a Right to mass and to bear arms; that a well regulated militia composed of the Body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper natural and safe defense of a free State... And, Who are the militia, if they be not the people of this country...? I ask, who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers. George wrote many wise words, inspiring and directly contributing to the works we are familiar with, such as the phrase life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, except Georges version is better. All men are created equally free and independent, and have certain inherent rights, of which they cannot, by any compact, deprive or divest their posterity; among which are the enjoyment of life and liberty, with the means of acquiring and possessing property, and pursuing the obtaining of happiness and safety. Heres a few more of his thoughts: Considering the natural lust for power so inherent in man, I fear the thirst of power will prevail to oppress the people. No free government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people, but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality and virtue, and by frequent recurrence to fundamental principles. Government is, or ought to be, instituted for the common benefit and security of the people, nation or community; whenever any government shall be found inadequate or contrary to these purposes, a majority of the community hath an indubitable, unalienable, indefeasible right, to reform, alter, or abolish it, in such manner as shall be judged most conducive to the public Weal.
