Our hardworking and enthusiastic volunteers have helped to reinstate the pathway to the rear of the castellated dam wall which follows the line of the original medieval route into the Park. This entered the Park near what is now the north-eastern boundary, crossed the river by the spillway and made its way up the slope, passing between the rear of the House and St Marys Church. Part of the work included the removal of large amounts of nettles and brambles in order to open up views and to enhance the presentation of the area. Removal of weed growth also helps to reduce soil fertility to encourage wildflower growth. Look out for one of our forthcoming wildflower tours with Lydiard’s Craft Gardener, John Ball.
