Our high school offers an Equine Sciences class - and as part of it local breeders can bring their foals or yearlings to a training stable - the kids are bussed out there 3 mornings a week (1 hour sessions) where they learn to catch, groom, halter train, pick up feet, basic halter commands/ques, lunge, respond to pressure, load in a trailer, etc. We call it boot camp. I was thrilled to be able to send two colts there, where they were the only minis in the class. With our move I didnt have time to teach them ANYTHING....and they came home with great manners and are so easy to work with now. Though the kids thought they were oh so cute they were not allowed to spoil them. Definitely will send my foals again next year. Only able to snap one picture on graduation day before my battery went dead.
