Our initial adventure with Trotsky has been full of surprises. First of all, comrade Trotsky is a girl, but more on that anon. Her vet visit turned up the usual slate of fixable stray problems -- fleas, worms, ear infection, upper respiratory bug, etc. -- for which she has been medicated and is quickly recovering from. And she tested negative for FIV, which is really lucky considering where she came from. Aaaaaand, she isnt a kitten. Examining her teeth, its clear that shes 2-3 years old, and quite possibly a littermate of one of our earlier rescues here at the commune, Mercury, who is a 20 pound behemoth. Shes just been *that* malnourished. Shes five pounds and a good deal thinner than our 21-year-old elder matron, comrade Ginger, and now And thats why I mistook her for a boy -- she was tiny and dirty and I didnt look very closely and thought I saw little kitten balls. Anyway, our little Komsomol girl is the sweetest, most affectionate cat I have ever met, to the point of almost being an over-the-top parody of a lap cat. Shes so happy to be receiving so much attention. And food. Shes definitely into the food. So by way of thanks to donors and well-wishers, a Trotsky gallery.
