Our latest ASYNSIS Press Release @ Business of Design Week Hong Kong slideshare.net/asynsis/asynsis-constructal-press-release251113-28672400 On the Press Release, its purpose is dual - its both: 1. an announcement of the Asynsis presentation at the October 2013 Nanjing Constructal Law science conference with Asynsis as the sole representative of the design industries. Its a historical first as far as we know in the sense that an architect has just presented at a science conference as a direct contributor to that particular science, which is a thermodynamics and geometry-led design Theory of Everything in Complexity. and 2. a promotional-capabilities document explaining the significance of that link between the arts and sciences in terms of design, development and operations in the built environment to help promote optimal, sustainable and (very) beautiful international-standard and Chinese-compatible design, particularly in China and wider Asia. The built environment is responsible for around 40% of all carbon dioxide emissions, and so (along with transport), is the single greatest contributor to global warming and climate change. As we are repeatedly reminded by science, if Asia develops as profligately as we in the West did, we will easily exceed the atmospheric CO2 limits beyond which catastrophic climate change will ensue. Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines (the worst in history - in November), is a harbinger of the much more extreme weather and human/economic/societal costs to come. So as members of our industry with direct responsibility to show leadership and a societal duty of care, we are also directly collaborating with Arup and the originators of the Constructal law of Design (Professors at Duke University: Adrian Bejan & Sylvie Lorente), exploring ways to focus this globally paradigm-shifting, culturally transformative new universal theory of complexity, optimisation and geometric beauty into a broad consensus to promote global sustainable design and development on the design, construction and operations fronts, within the built environment and beyond. Besides the above, what we also offer to stakeholders is innovative ways to promote (and practically deliver), sustainable design as a means to cut client costs, gain competitive advantage, preserve the environment (by better emulating nature), enhance CSR profiles, promote user and societal ESD/Green awareness & well-being, add commercial and cultural value and also boost commercial stakeholder profits - along with the compelling science and aesthetics-led, nature-informed transculturally-apt, Eurasian-fusion philosophy to facilitate it. Kerry Parkside Shanghai is a clear example of this, where we (with NAR as the then Aedas Senior Associate in overall charge), worked with the in-house engineers there to persuade the owners to pursue and attain LEED Gold certification, directly leading to tenants of the calibre of Disney taking up leases and 25-30% energy-cost savings. That facilitation in the built environment is via a world-class, bespoke tailored, big ticket-high value (according to UKTI on Asynsis projects in China for their GREAT campaign) design, construction and operations methodology that is again, transculturally-apt, transformativiely paradigm-shifting, optimal, sustainable and beautiful. We provide this service in the form of an exemplary Architectural, Landscape, Masterplanning and Interior Design consultancy from concept to completion in all the key sectors and at all scales and budgets. This can be on a sole design consultant basis or in association with our alliance partners in Hong Kong & Shanghai.
