Our lesson in Relief Society was Tausiga o le Fanau i le Malamalama ma le Upumoni Bringing Up Children in Light and Truth So fitting and such a powerful lesson especially with everything thats been going on. A sister made a remark that we as parents are our kids first teacher which I 100% agree to. But she went on saying that no child will do wrong UNLESS they see you (the parent) doing wrong Im a firm believer that we as parents, must lead by example. And yes what we teach our children, we must also abide by BUT I strongly disagree because the child has his/her own free agency to choose right or wrong. The Samoan mentality, when a kid does wrong, first thing they ask poo le kama a ai whos child is this Sometimes our children put us in a very difficult situation that all we can do is accept and love them, regardless. I know because Ive been on the other end as a child. It hurt me so much seeing my parents, especially my dad, so heartbroken because they wanted me to go on my Mission but I chose to go on my Mission Impossible instead lol A father with so much faith and humility, a mother who never fails to instill the Gospel teachings everyday growing up, and then me, the child who chose my own path. So yes, it can happen to anyone, especially to the most faithful members. Some may look at it differently but I know for a fact that everything happens for a reason. Were each given trials and tribulations of our own and so far, Ive been handling mine pretty well. Whatever path we do take though, one things for sure, were each accountable for our own actions. I may not have served a Full Time Mission but Im definitely on an even bigger Mission to get my husband baptized so our family can be sealed for all time and eternity #Amen
