Our limbs and our tongue are nothing but servants of our heart. The Prophet (P) recognized the importance of the heart and so he (P) always made the prayer “O Allah, Who makes hearts firm, make our hearts firm in your obedience”. We should also always be in the habit of making the same prayer. The word “qalb (heart)” is derived from something that always turns. So even if we find ourselves in obedience to Allah today, we cannot be certain that we will be tomorrow. The Prophet (P) realized this and that is why he (P) always made this prayer. If the Prophet (P) was frequent in making this prayer then how can we excuse ourselves from it?
