Our list of dogs available for adoption is just about half of the dogs we actually have in our program. New dogs that we are still evaluating/vetting are also here (Bacchus, new girl coming today), medical dogs going through treatment are in foster (Legacy), In Sanctuary dogs that will not be placed via adoption due to physical or behavioral issues but will remain in our foster care for life are also here (Seagram, Brandi, Loki). And one of these not listed on our available list is Stoli. If you recall, Stoli came in to us almost 3 months ago-a senior girl who was so severely overweight that even moving was a struggle. Her breathing was labored, she had difficulty getting up and often needed assistance and was generally in very poor health. Well, look at her now! Under foster parents Bill and Heathers care, she has thrived. Shes lost 11lbs already (we need to slowly take off weight-its the healthiest way to do it), had her bad ear infection cleared up and gotten meds for her arthritis. Huge thanks to Heather for all the driving to vet visits that she has done to get our girl on her way to health. When she loses a few more pounds our vet will give the OK to spay her and her long road to recovery will be done. Just thought youd like to peak behind the curtains to see the dogs that might not be available but are still in our care. Rescue is not just about the adorable highly adoptable young dogs (looking at you, Fiddle!), but runs the gamut from young to old, healthy to chronically ill. Thanks to your support, we can take in these special needs dogs and make sure they are properly cared for, if need be, for life. Stoli, for those who are wondering, will not ever go on that available dogs web page. Once she is fully vetted and gets the vets OK, Heather and Bill will be adopting her themselves. How could they not fall in love with this girl, right?
